June 20, 2000: Speaking of compatibility problems, I've been starting to look at WML and think about wireless apps. I really like the idea of context-specific design which wireless enables, but--my god!--do you know how many web-enabled devices there are out there already (all with slightly different hardware and software interfaces)? If you thought simultaneously designing for both 640x480 and 1024x480 screens was hard, think about designing for both 20x30 and 200x300 (or whatever). Owww, my head hurts.
